Brewing, Road Trip, & Other Updates

I forgot to add to my last blog post that Steven has gotten into home brewing while I have been away.  We spent one of his off Fridays preparing a batch of wheat beer.   It is still fermenting, while we patiently wait for the chance to drink it in a few weeks.

I took a little road trip this past week up to New York City to see some friends.  We went to the St. Patrick's Day parade in NYC and then hung out at a few bars in Brooklyn.  I really love getting to spend time in the city and it was great to see friends, especially Annie who I hadn't seen in almost 2 years.

Of course no trip to New York is complete without some great food.

2 Slices and Yuengling

This Vodka Penne with Chicken rocked my world.

Other life updates include an official job offer and a mortgage pre-approval.  I've got a meeting scheduled with my previous employer tomorrow in Greenville and will likely see a condo in the city tomorrow afternoon.

New Update - With Pictures!!!

Job Hunt

I'm closing in on the end of the job search and have a pretty good idea of where I will likely end up.  I'm going to leave details off of here because I don't want to screw up what I've been working on by posting it all over the internet.

But because there is an apparent front runner, I have taken some time to look at condos.  Which will become my #1 priority as soon as I have a written job offer.

I love this unit but am unsure if I want to dip into my savings for it.  Also I'm not sure how long my potential assignment is and whether owning makes sense or not.

Also looking at this top floor two bedroom.

The first unit is a 1 bedroom across the street from the minor league ball park and one of the bar districts.

The second unit is about a 3/4 mile walk from there.

Last Weekend

Last weekend I ran my first ever half marathon, finishing with an official time of 1:49:21, beating my goal of breaking two hours by 10 minutes!  Average pace was 8:22 per mile.  Next half marathon I'll attempt to go under 1:45:00.

Please excuse the water marks, but I'm not going to pay $30 a pic for my half marathon photo set.  Maybe once I've run a marathon.

After the half marathon I headed to Hilton Head Island to see my grandparents who I hadn't seen in 2 years.  I brought them a quilt from Africa that had been sitting at my family's house since Christmas and enjoyed the beachfront view while my muscles complained about my running 13.1 miles earlier that morning.

Next Weekend
While people in offices push around paperwork and restore my status as a productive tax paying citizen I'll be in NYC to see Annie & Eric, Nick &Wan, and Ronak.  I've been told the likely plan is a Brooklyn Bar Crawl on Saint Patty's Day.
