Bk:2 Ch:3 - Satisfying Drew

I awoke this morning to find that Drew is unsatisfied with my previous blog post.

Drew also said that he is now managing 15, 40 year olds that all look at him like he's a small child... In their defense, Drew does kind of look like a small child.

So a few things...

A maid really does clean my room, do my laundry, and re-stock my refrigerator every day.

If Uganda was a 2 then Saudi Arabia would be a 5.  But the fact that I'm literally making 10,000% more money in Saudi Arabia makes it even sweeter.

I'll arrive at JFK Airport at 11 AM on April 5th for my first R&R.  Amanda will be shortly behind.

Other things from my life... I wake up at 4:30, go to the mess hall at 5, work from 5:45 to 7 at night, eat, read a little or work out, and go to bed.

Work is challenging and frustrating, but it is a good career opportunity and the pay is life changing.  Plus it was an undesirable assignment, which means I'll be better positioned for a desirable international assignment in the future.  I'm thinking building a power plant in the Bahamas with the wife in tow :)

Book 2: Welcome To The Kingdom

I've been in the Kingdom for 12 days now and I've been very bad about getting some pictures up so I'll walk you through some pictures from my life here.

My bedroom.  Notice the bed is made.  Amanda isnt allowed here so that means that I must have maid service because she is the only person that ever inspires me to make the bed.

I have a TV. I've turned it on once, but mostly am reading a lot at night... I also have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Instant Video so I can't claim to be too proud of my reading.

Fridge gets refilled with water regularly, the sodas were complimentary but I've only had 1 and they arent re-stocking.  In Africa we'd have mixed those juice boxes with Waragi and had party... no such luck here.

And the three things that make Saudi Arabia better than Africa, toilet, shower, and hot water heater.

This is not Saudi Arabia.  This is brunch at the Francis Marion in Charleston. I miss it so much.

Kind of wish I was building something like this in Charleston or an equivalently awesome city right now.

The scenery sure isnt much. Lots of sand. The man camp is a ghost town on the off day (Fridays).  And it is ungodly bright outside after being inside all day.

My ride. The Crown Vic. Kind of makes me want to say "I'm not a cop" in a thick boston accent.

Typical meal at the mess hall.

What picks me up after a long hard day.

And then there's the woman I dream about each night.

Introduction to Book 2

I've been at this blog for a little less than a year now.  When the blog started my life was in an amazing transition.  I structured the blog, and titled it, to be part of that journey.  That journey came to a conclusion on New Year's Day just a month before I departed for my assignment in Saudi Arabia.

The previous 22 posts had a distinct beginning and a happy ending and I'd like for them to stand apart. The next year or so's posts will fall under the heading of Book 2, and will chronicle my assignment in Saudi Arabia, my R&Rs, and the preparations for our wedding next April.  It will serve as the prologue for my next blog which I registered today.
