I was back to work this week, which means not really a whole lot to talk about.
I'm really enjoying a couple of the things I brought back from the states and just thought I'd share them in a post.
I called Amanda Thursday morning at 4 am (Wednesday night for her) and we were talking about my future R&Rs and what we might be doing / where we would be meeting. When we were discussing what we may or may not be able to do she said something along the lines of, "I love traveling but I love you more", to which, like the silver tonged devil that I am, I replied, "I love you more than... ... my mattress pad."
It really has changed the Kingdom for me.

Best Things I Brought Back:
The Mattress Pad:
How excited and happy am I with this mattress pad?I called Amanda Thursday morning at 4 am (Wednesday night for her) and we were talking about my future R&Rs and what we might be doing / where we would be meeting. When we were discussing what we may or may not be able to do she said something along the lines of, "I love traveling but I love you more", to which, like the silver tonged devil that I am, I replied, "I love you more than... ... my mattress pad."
It really has changed the Kingdom for me.
The Shoes:
I've been working 10-12 hour days in my steel toed boots despite the fact that I really only get out in the field maybe one out of 3 days. This last week I was 1 for 6.
Typically I've been the type of planner that goes out in the field 4-5 times a day. Often for just 5-10 minutes to visually verify something or ask a superintendent a question. Well our construction site is a 12 minute walk from our office, or a 5 minute drive, plus I've been struggling with a backlog of work that has kept me chained to the computer.
Due to the fact that I don't really need to be in steel toed boots all the time I've introduced these to my desk life and am loving it.
The Entertainment:
I packed a playstation 3 despite my previous intents not to do so. I'll keep reading but while home I got my first taste of Batman Arkham Asylum and just couldnt stop. I've also been using the media center on the PS3 to stream downloaded videos to my TV screen, which given the horrible internet connection here it's nice to be able to download a file during the day and then stream it across the network without interuption. I'd been interested in The Following before I left but hadn't gotten into as it premiered 2 weeks before I left the country. Well I've been on a bit of a marathon this week and am now caught up.
Notable Mentions:
Didn't make the top of the list but a mention is deserved by my GPS watch which I've been using to get back into running, and my bathrobe, since a loaf who hangs out in his room whenever he isnt working just has to have a bathrobe.
